Tourism Website Design and Accessibility Workshop

Following on from my recent acceptance onto the TPMW selective tender list I attended a website design and accessibility workshop in North Wales yesterday.

The workshop was aimed specifically at the tourism market in mid Wales and covered best practice for website designers. The course was attended by 6 website designers, all of whom had met the stringent assessment criteria. As expected there were no real surprises or new insights and from my point of view I already implement most of the topics covered within my website design projects. It was however good to meet some other like-minded web designers who place a great deal of emphasis on the accessibility, conformity and overall quality of their websites. It is also encouraging to see that the TPMW are committed to increasing the overall standard of website design in Wales by provided SME's with the tools, training and information they need to help them in the decision making process of choosing a website designer.

Attendees of the workshop are also entitled to 3 free website audits that will assess the overall quality of a website with repect to the following criteria:

  • Accessibility and readability
  • Identity and trust
  • Customization and interactivity
  • Navigation
  • Findability and search engine optimization
  • Technical performance

I intend to take advantage of this opprotunity and will be submitting the next 3 websites I build for assessment. If this happens to be your website I will of course share the results with you.
