No Rest for the Creative
I'm finally off on what I consider to be a well deserved holiday. OK, so it isn't a REAL holiday as really it is a trip to my mother-in-laws in order to show off our 9 week old first child, but it is a break from what has been a rather hectic period in the development of Pixelwave Design. Unfortunately my Mother-in-Law doesn't live in the Seychelles, Mauritius or any other exotic holiday location. There's nothing wrong with the Isle of Man (I quite like it), but it can't really be described as a tropical paradise (although it does have its own species of palm tree). Still, I'm looking forward to the change and think that immersing myself in a different place for a week or two pays dividends in the long-term.
As a web designer I like to think of myself as a fairly creative individual, but by no means am I an unending font of new ideas. Spending some time in the real world with real people rather than in front of a computer is always an important part of my creative process. Failure to do this would mean that my inspriration would come only from the internet which would lead to work lacking a certain amount of originality. I am fortunate that I have engineered a life living in a beautiful and ever changing part of the world that provides endless amounts of inspiration for my creative ideas. However, they say a change is as good as a rest so it was time for a holiday.
The holiday should give the technical side of my mind a rest and the creative side of my mind a change. I expect the change will be beneficial and I will return with a head full of new ideas, a camera full of new images and inspired to produce some of my best work yet.
