New Back-Up Service Now Available
It has come to my attention that despite several warnings many of my clients are still not backing up vital parts of their websites. Not doing so could result in a loss of data.
This won't apply to all of my clients as those of you with static websites should be relatively safe as your sites are stored:
- On the web-server
- On the web-server back-up
- On my personal web-server
- On my back-up hard drive
- On a CD copy of your website if you requested one
However, for those of you with dynamic database driven sections to your websites such as forums, online catalogues, eCommerce solutions, photo galleries and other bespoke content management systems this is not the case. The information and images you and your website's visitors add to your sites are not backed up and are stored on the web-server only. This means that if there was ever a problem with the web-server all the information added to the site by you and your visitors could be at risk. In some cases this may result not only in the loss of days or weeks worth of work on your behalf, but maybe also the loss of important data such as sales receipts and client contact information..PLEASE, PLEASE BACKUP YOUR DATA REGULARLY
I realise that it is often difficult to find the time to regularly back-up your data and it is often difficult to remember to do it at regular intervals. Because of this I am now offering a back-up service for my clients. This service will enable you to continue running your business and website safe in the knowledge that it's data will be regularly backed-up. You will be freed from the responsibility of remembering how, when and what data to protect.
The cost of this service will vary depending on the amount of data that needs to be backed up for your particular website and the frequency of the back-ups, but for most sites will be as little as £5 per month. If you are unsure whether your site needs to be backed up please contact me. I will be happy to help and can advise on the frequency of back-ups and how to actually carry out the back up.
